This qualification is designed for adults from language backgrounds other than English who already have limited English language skills. Successful completion of this course will help you participate more effectively in the Australian community, progress in your job or do further study.
This course is for learners who have just started learning English language and who have had minimal exposure to English. You will practice general English conversation, develop literacy and numeracy skills and get help with grammar and pronunciation.
The course will help you to develop your English communication skills for work or further studies.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course. However, you must be over 18 years-old and are required to undertake a pre-assessment after enrolment to determine which course level you are best suited to.
The course duration is 25 weeks (including breaks).
Delivery methods include classroom based training and practical sessions involving small groups and individual activities.
Assessment is continuous and ongoing, focusing on the learning process as well as the competency requirements of the qualification units. Assessment methods include written test, observation and projects.
After achieving the Certificate I in Spoken and Written English you may enrol in the Certificate II in Spoken and Written English.
